Job Summary

We are looking for a highly-organized, motivated, and creative self-starter who wants to help make our community a visible hub of innovation and entrepreneurship activity.

The Program Specialist serves as the primary point of contact, and source of support for a wide array of partners, including Hartford-area corporations, colleges and universities, and community organizations that create a vibrant and connected environment.

Initial responsibilities will include refining and creating new processes for developing partnership agreements, collecting and analyzing and sharing information with Hartford’s innovation community. The Program Specialist will also work closely with Launc[H]’s fiduciary agent to monitor and report on program spending, review and process invoices, and manage the execution of contracts and compliance documents.

In addition, as our presence in the community continues to grow, there will be opportunities for professional growth and development, particularly in assisting with program marketing and communications.

Essential Functions:

  • Primary point of contact for program partners and other community stakeholders
  • Collect and organize data from program partners
  • Organize Launc[H] events and meetings, including scheduling, preparing and distributing relevant background information
  • Capture and distribute minutes from meetings
  • Monitor progress against milestones, evaluate effectiveness, and capture lessons learned
  • Work with the fiduciary agent to collect and support program budgets, accounting of spending, and prepare budget reports.
  • Process invoices and requests; track spending against budget, and intended deliverables
  • Assist with program contracting, on-boarding of new partners, and compliance with terms of engagement
  • Develop and execute a communication strategy for Launc[H] stakeholders

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum:

  • Three to five years of experience in program administration, business or in an entrepreneurial setting.
  • Proven flexibility, initiative, good judgment and discretion in resolving problems efficiently, effectively and independently.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering information with a high degree of accuracy while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new software as necessary.
  • Proven experience planning, organizing and executing events.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively and collaboratively with multiple public and private stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends for events, as needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a startup, with entrepreneurs, and/or economic development initiatives
  • Experience supporting a grant funded or foundation funded program.
  • Experience creating or managing a program management tools, including a database.
  • Experience developing and executing effective marketing and communications strategies
  • Experience creating and updating websites and other digital marketing tools.
