Job Summary

Launc[H] is the driving force behind Hartford’s innovation ecosystem. We are led by innovators and entrepreneurs from across our community united by one common goal: making Hartford the best place on the East Coast to start or grow a business.

We are seeking an innovative, locally based individual who has a passion for entrepreneurship through direct experience helping to launch or scale a startup. Being able to understand and intuit the needs of those building a business from scratch is highly valued. You will work directly with entrepreneurs and innovators, as well as stakeholders from across the community to identify the services and support most needed by companies looking to grow. You will also help to build infrastructure and systems for Launc[H] that help to optimize support for emerging and growing companies.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide direct connections, through LAUNC[H], to support entrepreneurs seeking assistance, advisory services, and connections to industry to accelerate success.
  • Utilize creativity and organizational improvements to help foster a more effective and accessible network of support and camaraderie amongst growing businesses in Hartford.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with federal, state and local government agencies, chambers of commerce and business and professional associations to help attract new businesses to Hartford.
  • Develop, track and report on metrics that identify key indicators of ecosystem growth.
  • Build community within Hartford’s innovation ecosystem by regularly attending partner events and periodically organizing events that draw the community together under the Launc[H] umbrella.
  • Assist the Director with business development efforts by engaging new partners and identifying opportunities for new support structures to be created through partnership and sponsorship.
  • Assist with marketing and communications of Launc[H] activities, as well as programs led by community partners, so that the resources and expertise in Hartford are readily available to all those seeking support
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of what is required to successfully scale a business in today’s market, as well as the tools and resources available throughout the community that can help to accelerate success. 

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum:

  • Three to five years of experience in innovation or entrepreneurship, and a passion for helping others in the field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A commitment to unparalleled customer service, and the ability to balance multiple stakeholders needs, and priorities at the same time.
  • Exhibit a strong ability to influence in a matrixed environment
  • Embrace uncertainty and ambiguity; be self-motivated and dedicated to continuous improvement
  • Experience in ideation techniques for creative and collaborative problem.
  • Ability to innovate and develop creative solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to balance strategic development and day-to-day operation responsibilities
  • Experience in two or more: technology entrepreneurship, performing market analysis, developing business plans, project and team management, event planning and marketing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new software as necessary.
  • Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends for events, as needed.

Preferred:

  • Expertise in relevant to tech-based businesses as well as food, consumer goods, and or retail ventures.
  • Experience facilitating the deployment, execution, and continuous improvement of innovative technologies and products to accelerate growth. 
  • Seasoned executive with proven track record in creating results-oriented solutions.
  • Experience founding a company, working in a startup or launching products/services
  • Experience supporting a grant funded or foundation funded program.
  • Experience developing and executing effective marketing and communications strategies
  • Experience creating and updating websites and other digital marketing tools.
  • Experience planning, organizing and executing events.
